Earlier this April, two-time Formula 1 world champion Fernando Alonso took time out of his racing schedule to test drive the new LaFerrari.
You can watch the video online, which has some humor to it, because what starts out as a mild cruise around the track quickly turns into a top-speed joyride for Fernando Alonso.
Finishing the test drive with a big grin, Alonso and his co-captain give each other a high-five as they appear to have made or beaten some kind of speed record in the new LaFerrari.
total maximum output of 963 HP (708 kW), thereby allowing it to accelerate from 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in less than three seconds
Fernando Alonso has good reason to smile. This is because he spent time with the LaFerrari engineers fine tuning important features like control location, handling and driving position. These are details that a world champion race car driver like Fernando Alonso knows well, and what will set the new LaFerrari apart from other high-end super cars.
“I am always happy to spend a few days in Maranello, said Alonso. “ Apart from working on the car and being in close contact with the team, sometimes I’m able to see some of the production departments which are the heart of the company. This time I met up with people who are never in the limelight, but they have an incredible love for their work.”
Ferrari is happy with the results as well. The new LaFerrari was designed with an electric motor and a 6.3 liter V12 engine. This configuration enables the LaFerrari to have a total maximum output of 963 HP (708 kW), thereby allowing it to accelerate from 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in less than three seconds, and climb to a top speed of over 350 km/h (217 mph).
While the video of Fernando Alonso driving the LaFerrari is humorous, the comments on the video are funny as well. Some viewers make fun of Alonso’s “Dumb & Dumber” haircut, while others laugh about the way that Fernando Alonso is asked to drive slowly, but clearly has his intentions of opening it up once he is on the track.
